Welcome to

Reno, Nevada!

For anyone that loves dogs, Reno, Nevada will be the place to be this August.

Marcia Bittner, Show Chair for the Reno Kennel Club states that in the past we have seen  participants from all over the U.S., Canada, as well as other parts of the world.

The Reno Kennel Club was first established in 1948, and the Reno Kennel Club Dog Show has become a staple in the community with nearly 160 different breeds competing in everything from Conformation to Obedience and Rally. Dog Owners and Handlers will be gathering August 19th, 20th and 21st in hopes of leaving with the top prize in each of their categories.

Dog Show participants absolutely love Reno, Nevada: "The Biggest Little City in the World."  They always say it's their favorite place to go. The weather can be a little crazy, but this show will be totally indoors at the Grand Sierra Resort Hotel.  Also, visitors say the people in Reno are nice and they love it here.

Many Dog Owners that show dogs can spend up to 20 hours a week or more grooming them. They say that's a small price to pay to win the ultimate Best in Show.

In this AKC event show, anyone with an AKC registered dog can enter them to compete. You will see everything from first time show dogs to dogs that have competed for years.

Alicia Adams, Breeder and Competitor: "We get out there and root for each other and say "just breathe", because it can be very nerve racking. One of the reasons we come to the shows is to see the breed we already love but also to learn and to see ones you have never seen before.  It is always great fun"

Glenna Elrod, President of the Reno Kennel Club: "We are going to have a wonderful, indoor show with something for everyone.  And, even though things can get a little competitive at times, win or lose, everyone seems to have a good time in the end."
